Period 9 Flying Star Super Charts for Beginners

The Fortune Period 9 has started on February 4th, 2024. If you are interested in San Yuan Xuan Kong Flying Star School, this post provides step-by-step instructions on how to measure the degree of a house, how to chart a house, and other relevant information on how to complete your period 9 flying star chart.

How to measure the degree of the house and how to chart the eight sectors

Step 1:  Go outside of the location, standing a few feet away from the main entry, using a compass to measure the degree of the location, the degree close to the house is the sitting degree, and the degree pointing out is the facing degree. Write down the degree and you can apply this later.

Step 2:  Assume your house/business location is a square/rectangular shape, use a pencil to draw the two diagonal lines and the crossing point of these two lines is the center of the location.

Step 3:  Apply the degree you read earlier in the blueprint. For example, if you reading degree is 90 degrees and facing degree is 270 degrees.

Step 4:  Use a protractor to align the degree. Then start mark down the degree following the direction table below:

Step 5:  Connect the marked dots opposite to each other, and you will get the charted pic below.

Step 6:  Connect the marked dots opposite to each other, and you can get rid of two diagonal lines and the degree marking for a simple view.

Step 6: Mark down the direction and you will get a complete chart.

How to build your period 9 Flying Star Natal Chart

In feng shui practice, the 360 degrees of a circle are divided into 8 trigrams, each trigram is further divided into 3 sessions. Thus we have a total of 24 equivalent sections, each section is called a “mountain.” These mountains have specific names after a Heavenly Branch, an Earthly Branch(zodiac), or a Gua. For beginners, I simplified each mountain with its direction and a number. For example, moving clockwise, the first mountain of the north trigram would be North 1 (N1), the second mountain of the north trigram would be North 2 (N2), and the third mountain would be North 3 (N3), etc. Once you finalize the degree of a location, you can check the degree falls within which mountain per the 24-mountain degree range as below.

N1 direction belongs to Ren Mountain in the compass, ranging from 337.5° to 352.5°

How to read a Flying Star Natal chart

Take the N1 sitting chart below as an example.

The big bold black number in each grid is the period 9 natal chart, applying universally to each period 9 house.

The red number on the top left of each sector is called the mountain star. The mountain star chart is calculated per the sitting/facing degree of a house in addition to the period chart.

The blue number on the top right of each sector is called the water star. Same as the Mountain Star chart, the Water Star chart is also calculated per the sitting/facing degree of a house in addition to the period chart.

Combine these three charts, you get a heavenly period 9 North 1 (N1) sitting flying star natal chart. San Yuan Xuan Kong Flying Star School is using this natal chart as the starting point for feng shui arrangement.

Period 9 Flying Star Super Charts

Feng Shui Digest’s period 9 super charts are practical templates for flying star practitioners who would like to include monthly stars, annual stars, and other annual energy, such as Tai Sui, Sui Po, etc. in one single chart.  In addition to the natal chart, it includes the 12 grids within each sector, providing space for monthly star charting, making the calculation and reading more convenient and straightforward.

I provided a free PDF with both 24-mountain charts and their corresponding super charts, alongside the information on feng shui months (not lunar months) and the next 10 years’ monthly flying stars. These are paid materials in many online courses. A few PDF pages are copied below for your reference.

Let us use the southeast sector of the N1 sitting house in the year of Snake to demonstrate how you can use the Period 9 Flying Star Super Charts.

In addition to the combo of Mountain Star 4 and Water Star 5, there are two additional grids next to the period star 8 to fill out the annual star and the energy of this sector. In this case, Tai Sui in the year of Sanke is in the southeast corner; the annual flying star in the southeast corner is #1, so you can fill in Tai Sui and 1 in these two grids.

For Chinese metaphysics beginners, most classical metaphysical charts of 12 units (12 zodiac, 12 months, etc.) go with the order below. The purple number is the indication of clockwise orders in a year.

In feng shui practice, the 2025 January is from February 3rd to March 4th, so the monthly star of January for this location is also #1 as below.

The February monthly flying star in the SE sector is # 9, March #8, April #7, and so forth. You fill in each monthly star per the order of purple numbers as one of the previous illustrations. Combined with other annual energy, we get a complete annual chart of the southeast corner for Period 9 N1 sitting house as below.

Please be aware that because of heavy plagiarism online. This template is not a digital template but for paper print only.
